Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Social Scene collects when you browse, save events, submit events, or create an account — and what we do with it.

What we collect

Social Scene is a Detroit events listing site. If you create an account, we collect the email address you sign up with. We never store your actual password — only a scrambled version that can't be turned back into it. If you sign in with Google, Facebook, or Apple, we receive the name, email address, and profile information you approve sharing with us from that provider. If you save events, we keep your saved events so your personal calendar works. If you submit an event, we keep the submission details and your contact email, which stays private and is used only for questions about your submission. If you join the mailing list, we keep your email address for that list.

Analytics

We measure traffic in aggregate only. Pageviews are counted using a random cookie identifier — we do not record IP addresses, user IDs, or email addresses in analytics, and referrers are stored as website names only. Visits by the site owner are never recorded.

How we use it

Your information runs the site: accounts and saved calendars, reviewing event submissions, and the mailing list. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

Who else handles it

A few services help run the site and process data only for that purpose: hosting (Vercel), the database (Neon), email delivery (Resend), and flyer file storage (Vercel Blob). Ticket links take you to the event seller's own website, which has its own privacy policy.

Cookies

We use a sign-in cookie to keep you logged in, and an anonymous cookie identifier for the aggregate analytics described above. Nothing here tracks you across other websites.

Your choices

You can stop receiving mailing list emails by contacting us, and you can ask questions about your information any time through the Contact page. If this policy changes, the updated date below will change too.
